Dentures are replacement teeth that can be removed. Denture adhesives like denture glue and denture paste are used to ensure that the dentures stay in place but they are not imperative to use. They are for people who feel their dentures may move and so they use the denture adhesive as an extra precaution. The denture adhesive is put on the denture and bite on it and this will help the denture to hold well on to the surface.
Sometimes you may not be too sure what amount of denture paste to use and you may end up using too much and the denture glue remains on the denture. Many times it happens when the person is in a hurry and applies the glue and wears the dentures and in a minute or two he feels that he applied to much glue. However, if you applied to much glue you need to remove the dentures and soak them in warm water and your denture cleaning agent. Try and avoid using a hard brush and normal toothpaste as these are too harsh on the denture and will cause them to get scratched and in the long run, they can wear out. Soak and brush your dentures this way, as often as possible, so as to prevent a buildup of denture glue on the dentures.
If you don't have a denture cleanser, you can use a homemade solution of a little white vinegar in water and use that solution to brush the dentures. This will work just as well. You can also use a soft wash cloth as an alternative to the soft brush.
Denture repair information is important for any denture wearer. If your denture is cracked or gets a small chip, you can file down the sharp edge so that it doesn't cause any injuries in your mouth. However if the chip or the crack is large, you may need to go to the dentist and have it replaced if it can't be repaired.
A hole in your denture can be filled just like a normal tooth so that you don't have to replace the whole set. Some pharmacies have a denture repair kit which is the best thing to use for minor repairs of your dentures. When using glue to repair your dentures, use glue that is designed for that purpose. Don't be tempted to use something like super glue which although it can fix your broken denture, it may not be safe for you to ingest. It is advisable to consult a professional dentist so he can advice you on the best course of action.
