The popularity of dental implant is on the rise if the figures of those going for the procedure is anything to go by. Even then, not so many people know what this process of getting dental implants entails. For the benefit of such individuals, it is important to understand the process of getting dental implants. This is important in enabling you overcome the anxiety associated with the surgery.

If you are interested in bringing back your smile, then you must thoroughly search for the right doctor with considerable experience on the same. Such a doctor must be a certified dentist with experience in dental implants. You can as well book an appointment to enable you have a full consultation. This will present a perfect opportunity to be examined to ensure that dental implants are the right thing for you so as to avoid tooth implant rejection.

After an evaluation has been taken and you have been certified as the right candidate for dental implant, the next step involves an oral surgery. In order to eliminate pain and discomfort, patients must be placed under anesthesia. This makes the whole process less painful and comfortable.

The next process involves bone grafting. However, this process is not necessary for most patients and can be passed. A healthy jawbone is necessary in order to successfully place the implant. In that regard, patients who have lost many teeth must pass through the bone grafting process. This process entails taking a bone from another part of the body which is then added to the jawbone to make it firm. However, this should be done by a specialist.

In the event that uncompromisable teeth are noticed, then they must be removed before the procedure continues. This can be performed by a regular dentist or the doctor performing the surgery.

After ensuring that the patient is comfortable with the surgery, a small incision into the gum tissues is made. It important that it remains small just enough to reveal where the implant will take place.

When this has been ascertained, the doctor will make what is commonly known as a socket using his specialized tools of trade. The primary objective of this socket is to hold the implant in place and ensure that the bone remains undamaged. The implants can only be inserted into the gums once the socket is in place.

Depending on an individual, the implants will remain inside the gums for up to three to six months. This will provide ample time for the implants and the jawbone to bond. When this process is over, the patient is required to go back to the doctor in order to uncover the implants. This is followed with the attachment of special extensions to prevent tooth implant rejection. When this is done, you will need a few weeks to heal.

Once you are completely healed, then comes the final step to give your teeth a new look. Your new teeth are then placed in. However, this is dependent on how many teeth are being replaced, and could take several weeks or even months. When this is successfully done, then you will have your teeth in place that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.
