Closet designs come in all shapes and sizes. Any home that you enter will give you an idea of just how different closets can be. For some it's an afterthought, but for others it's one of the most important designs of a home.
The way the closet is designed is based on a the personality of a person. A redesign may be necessary in some instances because over time a closet that may have once suited your needs just fine may no longer live up to your lifestyle. Certain closet designs can be tweaked a little to add efficiency. Others may require a complete overhaul. It really all depends on need.
There are so many designs to choose from. Anyone can have the closet of their dreams if the effort is put into it. Furniture stores carry the accessories and complete packages that allow you to change your closets.
One popular closet design is the walk-in closet. These are more common in bigger homes where there is sufficient space to make closets of this size. This is typically a closet type that comes with the home. In other words, this is not a go-to-the-store purchase. If your closet is not a walk-in at the moment it will take a little more than your own efforts to convert.
A home contractor may have to actually not down a wall to bring this into existence. If you can afford it, however, it is one of the nicest closet designs in existence. It's spacious and most walk-in closets usually have shelves for storage and mounts for hanging items.
If you can't afford to knock down walls and extend there are still other great options available. Closet that contain shelves are also popular. These designs usually contain horizontal shelves and it gives you a great view and grouping method for storage on different levels. The only true downside is that all the items stored must fit within the confines of the shelf space.
In addition there are also vertical shelves designs. This can be somewhat more convenient if you have large items that will not fit a horizontal style shelf. It's also a better design for clothes and other items that you may desire to hang instead of fold. The best however, is usually a combination of both horizontal and vertical shelves. The gives you room to sort items of various sizes without any problems.
