It's a shame that many younger players have never come across the old Super Nintendo. I once met someone who thought that the original Mario Kart was on the Nintendo 64! Oh the heresy. There are so many Super Nintendo games which are just amazing to play - the old ones are the good ones - and even without fancy graphics the actual game play experience eclipses any modern game for sheer fun.
But how on earth do you even find an old SNES these days? Most people just put theirs on the rubbish pile when newer products like the Nintendo 64 came along, so it can be hard to find them, and in fact, they're so rare that some people see them as collector's pieces, and pay top dollar for them, so although you might stumble across one somehow you might have to pay a pretty penny to own it. Usually the games that are opened and missing manuals can be obtained for cheap.
Fortunately, there is a range of snes "emulators" available, which are applications you can run on any good modern computer and which allow you to play old snes games easily. You need to download the games as "roms", which you can do from various sites on the internet. Then you just load the rom into the emulator, and hey presto, there's your old favorite running on a new computer! You'll be up and running in no time, playing fantastic games like Super Mario Kart (the original) - so good it's never been bettered by any of the sequels. Where Mario Kart 64 and the Wii version have more bells and whistles (extra weapons and stuff), all that just gets in the way of the essential brilliance of the original.
You can find all the best snes games at lots of sites all over the web, and setting up an emulator to run them is easy.
